Hanna Silver has been a lifelong student of music. Beginning with toddler music classes and Suzuki piano at age 3, Hanna learnt many instruments during school: violin, recorder, cello, drums, bass guitar, double bass, and trumpet. A student at Mac.Robertson Girls’, in year 10 she was part of the school’s first ever overseas music tour, playing violin in the Chamber Ensemble. The ensemble and the Chamber Voices performed 12 concerts in 3 weeks around the UK, culminating in the St Pauls Cathedral for the final concert.
Hanna studied classical piano at the VCA with Glenn Riddle, graduating 2004. She did the Suzuki Primary Teaching course in 2003 and has been teaching ever since. In her 20s, Hanna discovered the joys of vintage analogue synthesizers and singing. She produced her own music and collaborated in several bands, including Inverto and The Prince Of Seagulls. Highlights included touring Australia with Tinpan Orange and collaboration with Puretone (Josh Abrahams).
Hanna’s teaching philosophy has been crafted with great consideration over the last couple of decades. Music is the language of the conscious and the subconscious. Music is there to say what we cannot. Listening deeply brings great joy and comfort.
Currently, Hanna gigs regularly with her band Lazr Bees, playing a mixture of KlezCore, AfroBalkan, EthioJazz.
